Can I remove mold with bleach?
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, “Mold growth can be removed from hard surfaces with commercial products, soap and water, or a bleach solution of no more than 1 cup of bleach in 1 gallon of water,” [emphasis added]. In a residential setting, hard surfaces may include non-porous tile or cement. Often times, however, mold spores grow and thrive on porous or semi-porous material (drywall, wood framing, etc.). Because of this, a Certified Mold Remediation Contractor should a) contain, b) remove and c) replace the affected material.
