United Fire & Water Restoration was called to a Baton Rouge home after a customer expressed concern over a potential slab leak. The customer noticed that the wood flooring in their foyer was beginning to bow, prompting concerns about water intrusion beneath the surface. Upon arrival, a United Fire & Water representative conducted a thorough inspection and found that the flooring was slightly discolored in areas where water had penetrated, indicating possible moisture damage. Additionally, the baseboards and quarter-round trim in the foyer and foyer closet were visibly warped due to prolonged exposure to moisture.

Solutions provided:

To address the issue, the UF&W representative removed the damaged baseboards and quarter-round trim from both the foyer and foyer closet, allowing for better airflow and moisture control. To further mitigate the moisture levels and prevent further damage, a dehumidifier and Axial air mover were set up in these areas. These professional-grade equipment pieces work together to reduce humidity in the air and ensure the remaining structures, including the subflooring, dry out efficiently. In the adjacent bedroom, the same process was followed, with baseboards and quarter-round trim being removed, and another dehumidifier and axial air mover were set up to handle moisture in this area as well.

Additionally, an air scrubber was placed in the affected spaces to capture and reduce airborne spores and particulates, ensuring the air quality in the home was safe for the residents. By using this comprehensive approach to water damage restoration, United Fire & Water ensured that the moisture levels in the home were appropriately managed, preventing further damage and mitigating the risk of mold growth.
