United Fire and Water was called in to address a water damage situation in Zachary, Louisiana, where a water leak originating from under the floors affected several areas of the home. The water from the shower had spread across the bathroom, master bedroom, hallway, and living room. In order to mitigate the damage, our team quickly set up seven air movers, one scrubber, and one dehumidifier to facilitate the drying process. Upon inspecting the site, we discovered heavy mold growth on the master bathroom's exterior wall, which prompted us to perform a 2-foot flood cut to prevent further contamination and ensure the affected materials were properly addressed.

The situation was monitored during a follow-up visit, and we found that the master bedroom was still at 100% moisture level, signaling the need for further action. It was also noted that the fans were unplugged, which had compromised the drying process. To help the customer understand the situation, we explained the importance of keeping the equipment running and clarified that unplugging it would slow down the progress. The team then reconnected the fans and informed the homeowner of the next steps.

Additionally, we found that one of the dehumidifiers was no longer functioning correctly, as it was not producing temperatures higher than 74 degrees. As a result, we recommended bringing in an additional dehumidifier and possibly setting up a tent to create a more controlled environment for faster drying.
