Why did the customer contact us?
United Fire and Water was called to a seven-story building in New Orleans, Louisiana, where water damage occurred due to water entering through the exterior walls of a new construction project. As the building underwent an expansion, the storm that passed through caused water to seep into the structure, affecting six of the floors. The new construction had created vulnerabilities in the building’s exterior, allowing rainwater to enter the building and damage the materials inside.
Solutions provided:
In response to the water intrusion, United Fire and Water swiftly mobilized to set up 36 pieces of drying equipment to address the damage and prevent further water from coming in. This included 20 air movers, 10 dehumidifiers, and 6 industrial-grade 2000 air scrubbers. These machines were strategically placed to dry the affected materials and purify the air. The team also took preventive measures to limit the amount of water entering the building until repairs could be made to the construction site.
After running the drying equipment for an extended period, the moisture levels throughout the affected floors were brought under control. At the completion of the job, 77 air movers, 3 air scrubbers, and 17 axial fans remained in place to ensure continued drying and air circulation. With the equipment in place and the moisture successfully removed, United Fire and Water ensured that the building was dry and safe. The team’s fast response and thorough drying efforts helped prevent further damage and provided a solid foundation for repairs to the exterior of the new construction.
