Why did the customer contact us?

A homeowner called stating their water heater in the attic was leaking and their ceiling had fallen.

Solutions provided:

United Fire & Water sent a team to assess and noted the ceiling, center wall, and flooring needed demolition. Containment was set up to protect the homeowner's belongings. All affected baseboards were removed and weep holes were drilled in the affected sheetrock for airflow. Wet insulation in the attic was removed. The water heater was replaced and the attic space was re-saturated. Drying equipment was placed in the attic as well as on the main floor of the home including 10 Axel air motors, 3 air scrubbers, and 3XL dehumidifiers to reduce moisture levels and remove particles from the air. All affected structures were treated with an anti-microbial solution to mitigate future mold growth.
