Although roof damage can vary, we typically tell our customers to watch out for these 5 signs and symptoms that your roof may need to be repaired and/or replaced.
1. Stains on ceilings or walls inside your home.
Water can enter through a damaged spot on your roof, damage items and structures in your attic, and then make stains on your ceilings or walls.
2. Missing or discolored shingles.
Water can leak through spots on your roof where shingles are missing or discolored. When shingles become discolored it is an indication that they are damaged and may no longer be providing protection for your roof.
3. Higher electricity bill.
Air can leak out of damaged spots on your roof, causing your HVAC unit to have to run more frequently to maintain the temperature inside of your home. As a result, you will have a higher electricity bill.
4. Sunlight showing through your roof in your attic.
If you walk in your attic during the day and see sunlight shining through cracks or spots on your roof, your roof is likely allowing water to come inside and air to escape.
5. Deterioration around objects on your roof.
Pipes, vents, and other roof objects are subject to wear and tear. These objects tend to deteriorate as time goes by, which can then lead to leaks in your roof.
