A United Fire & Water professional went onsite to the business and identified the leak had started from the adjacent unit. The water had been shut off in the adjacent unit. The carpet was affected in the store as well as the walls. We used a vacuum to extract the water from the carpet. Drying equipment was set up including dehumidifiers, air movers, and air scrubbers. After a couple of days, the carpet was dried and the moisture levels had returned to normal.

United Fire & Water sent a technician to investigate the leak. The downstairs ceiling was wet and there was mold present in the closet ceiling. The cause was a backup in the washer drain. We set up a dehumidifier upstairs and an air scrubber downstairs for stabilization. Minor demolition was performed to remove unsalvagable structures. We wiped the mold off the wall in the closest and performed a flood cut in the upstairs laundry room. There was mold present behind the baseboard and on the sheetrock so we sprayed and cleaned the studs. Additional drying equipment was set up in the laundry room to reduce moisture levels and remove particulates from the air. The remaining affected areas were cleaned with an antimicrobial solution.

Upon initial inspection, a United Fire & Water technician identified a leak that had been repaired in the laundry room. Unfortunately, it had been leaking for a long time and her wood was saturated with a significant amount of mold on the underside of the subfloor. After the removal of unsalvagable structures, the remaining structures were treated with an antimicrobial solution to mitigate future mold growth. Drying equipment was also set up and after a few days the structures were dry and moisture levels had returned to normal limits.
