More About Sunshine
The city of Sunshine, Louisiana is a northern neighborhood in the city of Saint Gabriel and Iberville parish. It’s approximately 15 minutes south of Baton Rouge along the Mississippi River. The community was named after forlorn hope by inhabitants but was given its current name by Oscar Richardson Senior. He was the one who produced petitioned the federal government for permission to change the name of the post office to sunshine in order to give the area a more uplifting name.
