More About Plaquemine
The city of Plaquemine, Louisiana is located within the Iberville parish. Is known to be part of the Baton Rouge metropolis in the statistical area. In 2010 the population was 7119 people but has since decreased to 6269 people as of 2020. The town can be located in the central part of the state and the north eastern side of the parish. Early inhabitants of the area are thought to be of the Chitimacha people. The town was settled by incoming residents in 1775. Due to its location up along the Mississippi river the village soon began to prosper and grow which has grown into the size that it has become today. It was incorporated into the state as a city in 1838 though it was first inhabited by settlers in 1775.
